  • • Awarded CDBG grant administration services to G & G Municipal Consulting and Grant Writing, according to the minutes because no other proposals were submitted by the required time frame.
  • • Approved street closures for the annual Strawberry Festival 5K/8K on 6/8/24, 5-7 a.m., on E State St (Platt St to village line), Moore St (village line to Riley St) and Ingersoll St (bridge to E State St).
  • • Held a discussion on cyber security; Reiner, Village Employee, was named liaison to the Cyber Readiness Institute, responsible for completing the CRP, adopting the CRI Core Four policies, and training employees.
  • • Entered executive session for personnel matters at 6:50 PM and exited at 7:25 PM.
  • • Hired Dechert, Attorney (Webster Szanyi), to work on the employee handbook and related managerial-handbook items.
  • • Approved compression pay increases for Delores Hansel to $15.75, Piccirilli, Village Employee, to $17.00, Reiner, Village Employee, to $20.00, and Jessy Holz to $22.00; Gary Van Wycke received three additional vacation days rather than a proposed $18.70 rate, which the minutes attribute to a New York State earnings threshold for state retirees, with the board saying it would revisit the figure if that threshold changes.

At the Village of Albion Board of Trustees' Jan. 24, 2024 meeting, only three of the board's five members were present -- Javier, Mayor, and Riley, Deputy Mayor, were both absent -- yet the remaining trustees carried a 35-minute personnel executive session by voting to hire an outside attorney for the employee handbook and to raise pay for five staff members.
