Editorial Policy
AI Disclosure
albion.news uses artificial intelligence in every stage of its editorial process. We believe full transparency about this is essential.
Transcription: Meeting audio is transcribed by Deepgram Nova 3, an AI speech recognition system. Transcripts include automated speaker identification (diarization). Transcription errors may occur, particularly with proper nouns, technical terms, and cross-talk.
Article drafting: New articles are drafted with Codex using bounded original-source packets. Earlier articles may use other models identified in their metadata. Sources may be minutes, agendas, proposals or transcripts, and their status must be distinguished.
Review for new articles: AI-assisted drafts are checked by a fresh independent agent against original sources before the coordinating editor makes the final publication decision. Unresolved claims hold publication. Matt is the responsible publisher. This process does not establish that older articles received the same review.
What AI does not do: AI does not conduct interviews. Automated assistance and agent review do not replace primary-source evidence. Final publication decisions are made by the coordinating editor under the responsible publisher’s authorization.
Sources
All albion.news content is derived from public records, including:
- Official meeting videos published by the Village of Albion
- Meeting minutes and agendas posted on the village website
- Municipal code (via ecode360.com)
- County, state, and federal public records
- Published news reports from other outlets (cited when used)
We do not use anonymous sources. Every factual claim should be traceable to a public record or an on-the-record statement made at a public meeting.
Quote Verification
Direct quotes in our articles are drawn from meeting transcripts. Each quote includes a timestamp link that allows readers to:
- Read the quote in the full transcript context
- Watch the original video at the exact moment the statement was made
If a quote appears inaccurate, it may reflect a transcription error. We correct these promptly when identified. Please contact us with the article URL and timestamp.
Corrections Policy
Factual errors: We correct factual errors as soon as they are identified. Corrections are noted at the bottom of the article with the date and nature of the correction.
Transcription errors: If a quote is inaccurate due to AI transcription, we update the quote to match what was actually said on video. Minor transcription corrections are made silently; substantive corrections that change meaning are noted.
Clarifications: If an article is accurate but misleading due to missing context, we add a clarification noting the additional context.
How to request a correction: Email editor@albion.news with the article URL, the specific error, and the correct information with source.
Independence
albion.news is independently operated. We have no financial relationship with the Village of Albion, any political candidate or party, or any business or developer mentioned in our coverage. We do not accept payment for coverage or favorable treatment.
