Albion students’ food-bank volunteer work is connected to a local dinner program as well as a wider regional distribution network, according to a new district account. Albion Central School District says its Interact Club students helped prepare 9,500 meals for distribution in the coming months.[1] The district published its account October 20, describing an October 15 visit to Foodlink’s warehouse in Rochester. Students sorted pallets of canned goods totaling more than 11,500 pounds, the district said.[1] Those figures describe the school’s account of the work and its expected contribution to later distribution. They do not establish that 9,500 meals have already been delivered, or that all of the food will go to Albion households. ## A connection closer to home Students also had the opportunity to visit Koinonia Kitchen in Albion. The district says the kitchen receives Foodlink food for a weekly dinner for local families, connecting the warehouse work with a program in their own community.[1] The district describes Foodlink as a Rochester nonprofit that stores and distributes emergency food through food-bank members and community partners across a ten-county service area. Its account does not identify the eventual destinations of the pallets sorted during this visit.[1] Albion Rotary Club sponsors Interact. The district says the high-school and middle-school clubs together have nearly 50 members this year; that is a combined membership figure, rather than a count of students on the October 15 trip.[1] ## Source [1] Albion Central School District, “Interact Club helps ensure nearly 10,000 meals are ready for distribution through Foodlink,” October 20, 2026. https://www.albionk12.org/article/3202311
